Interested in sea level rise mitigation and the City of Sunnyvale’s Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) proposal?  If so, plan to come to our July 10th meeting where we will host experts on these two topics.

Sea Level Rise in the Bay Area

The Army Corps of Engineers will share what they are doing to mitigate sea level rise in the Bay Area.  This was a topic of great interest during our Moffett Park Specific Plan meetings and discussions.

Guaranteed Basic Income

Universal Basic Income (UBI), a program that provides a minimum level of income to everyone and Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI), which provides basic income to a targeted group in need, have attracted widespread interest as tools to address poverty and homelessness.

Sunnyvale Study Issue CDD 22-07: Evaluate a Pilot Program for Universal Basic Income Including Potential Funding Sources is nearing completion.

Ernie DeFrenchi, Affordable Housing Manager will update us on what has been done to date to design a GBI program, the components of the program, who is eligible and how this program will be implemented.  We will also learn when we can expect council to review staff’s proposal.

Homestead Safe Routes to School

Sharlene Liu from the Sunnyvale Bike Coalition will provide a brief update on proposed changes to the bike infrastructure on Homestead Road.
