International Children’s Day was celebrated on June 1st. At our June Meeting we will be focusing on Sunnyvale’s children.  We have invited two Sunnyvale women who are both moms and leaders in our community.  They will share their concerns, their work and what we can do to support Sunnyvale’s children. 

Isabel Jubes Flamerich teaches architecture at West Valley City College and is the Sunnyvale

School District Board President.  As a 2023 Leadership Sunnyvale graduate, Isabel will share a project she has been working on through Leadership Sunnyvale regarding our city’s unhoused children. 

Peggy Shen Brewster, a former middle and elementary school teacher is a founder of Sunnyvale for Equity in Education (SEE). SEE advocates for equitable access and quality of education for students in North Sunnyvale. SEE initially met with the Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD) in January 2023 and they now have over 150 members. Peggy will be sharing SEE’s history and work.
